Dual Fuel Training
LCL Level 2 Diploma in Smart Metering (Dual Fuel)

This diploma provides a comprehensive route into the industry, allowing you to become a fully competent Smart Metering Installer across both gas and electric disciplines.
You will study 10 units, covering:
- Working safely in the Energy & Utilities Sector
- Installing and exchanging Single Phase Electric Meters
- Installing Low Pressure Gas Smart Meters
- Customer service and regulatory compliance
Assessment Method:
- Practical observation (simulated and real environments)
- Written assessments (short answer & multiple choice)
Entry Requirements:
No previous qualifications required. All tooling provided on-site.
Power Training
LCL Level 2 Diploma in Smart Metering (Power)

Designed for new entrants or those already working in metering, this qualification focuses solely on Smart Electricity Metering.
You will study 7 units, including:
- Delivering customer service within the Energy Sector
- Installing and commissioning communication systems
- Installing and exchanging Single Phase Electric Meters
Assessment Method:
- Practical observation (workplace and simulation)
- Written examination (multiple choice and short answer)
Entry Requirements:
Open to all learners. Tools and supervised workplace experience included.
Gas Training

This course prepares you for a career in Smart Gas Metering, giving you the knowledge and skills to install and exchange meters safely and competently.
You will study 8 units, including:
- Health, safety, and working practices in utilities
- Installing and exchanging Low Pressure Natural Gas Meters

Assessment Method:
- Observed performance in the training centre
- Written exam with multiple choice and short answer sections
